Women in Industrial Design Show
Call for Entries
This is a call for entries for the first Women in Industrial Design Show sponsored by WID of IDSA during San Francisco Design Week (June 13-21). Works selected for the show will exemplify WID mission and commitment to supporting women in industrial design and promoting design excellence.
For one night only, the show will feature 15 designers in two categories — Up+Coming and Professionals. The Work can be conceptual, in full production, or anything in between. WID’s hope is to showcase a wide scope of industrial design work by women in various stages of their careers. Ladies, you know you rock. Eligibility
Open to all US-based, female professionals, students and design enthusiasts with a background in Industrial Design
Fee
There is no fee to submit your work. If your work is chosen there is a $75 participation fee, which will be due April 5th.
How to Enter
- Read the Submission Guidelines before entering.
- Email up to 5 photographs of your work (JPG/PDF/GIF) that you would want to exhibit to WomenInID@gmail.com. The total size of your submission must be 5MB or smaller. (Do not send 5 JPGS that are 5Mb each.)
- Do not include your name or any pictures of yourself in any of the submissions. Entries with designer identification in the Work will be disqualified.
- In your submission email, please include the following information:
- Choose: Up+Coming (a student currently enrolled or a professional with less than 5 years of experience) or Professional (5+ years of experience)
- List School(s) / Degree
- Can you be present for the Show on June TBD, which will take place in San Francisco, CA? This does not affect the Work selection.
- Please type: “I understand that in the event my Work is selected for the Show, I am responsible for my own show setup and take down following the Show that complies with WID Show. (Your Name and Date here)”
Submission Content Guidelines
To merit consideration as a Qualified Entry, the Work must meet all of the following criteria (“Entry Requirements”):
- Entrant must be a female with a background in Industrial Design or Product Design or other similar equivalent degree.
- The Work to be submitted to the Show must be in digital format and sent to WomenInID@gmail.com. Entries will NOT be accepted via physical delivery.
- The Work may be produced in any medium but must be submitted to the Show as JPEG (or JPG) format, GIF format, or PDF format up to 5 JPG/PDF/GIF. The total size of the files must be 5Mb or smaller. (Do not send 5 JPGS that are 5Mb each.)
- The Work must not be inappropriate, libelous or defamatory, harassing, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, profane, excessively violent, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable or offensive, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit.
- All submissions must be designed by the Entrant or belong to a team in which Entrant is the design lead. By entering the Show, the Entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted Work is the work designed by the Entrant, that the Work does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the Work. Entries that are accepted for the Show that contain brand names, trademarks or company logos require permission from the company to exhibit.
The Work must not involve physical harm to any person or animal.
- The Work may not use any watermarks or artist signatures.
- In the event the Work is accepted, the Entrant accepts full responsibility for the setup and take down of their Work for the Show that complies with the Show regulations. The Entrant does not have to be present for the Show, though it is strongly encouraged.
Intellectual Property and License
All Works submitted will remain the exclusive property of the Entrant. IDSA and WID (further defined as Sponsor and Producer respectively) will have the right to use all of the Works submitted as part of the Show, and all images depicted therein, in any promotion or for any non-commercial purpose. By submitting her Work, the Entrant grants the Sponsor and Producer the non-exclusive, unlimited and royalty-free rights to publish in all media now known or hereafter discovered, and publicly display all Work for an unlimited period and worldwide.
